The past few weeks have been stressful to say the least. Wile prepping for our pesticide exam, the world has gone into chaos over the recent increase in the COVID-19 outbreak. Because of this the school has shut down except for online courses raising everyones stress level on top of the upcoming exam. My biggest issue with writing a provincial exam is that the questions are designed to trick the writer, which in my opinion doesn’t test their actual knowledge of the content.
If there is anything I have really learned throughout this, aside from the large amount of pesticide information, it is how to manage my stress level. I need to study daily but also need to find things to do that can help keep me relaxed at the same time. The best way for me is to study and then take a break by going out for a walk with the dog and playing video games with friends who are in a similar position. This has been an even bigger learning experience than the actual course because it is so important in our line of work. Working in the golf industry there is always stress and understanding how to deal with that stress is extremely important. Making sure you have some way to calm yourself and get your mind off of the constant stress helps with performance at work while also keeping your mental health in check. Self discipline and time management are key things when it comes to getting work done while keeping stress manageable. Something we can all continue to use whether it is work related or any other factors causing the stress.
