TRF 1660 Irrigation Entry 1

Although this past week hasn’t been ideal for irrigation work, I have gained a basic understanding about the math that goes into designing a sustainable irrigation system. Participating in an online class for something that ultimately requires hands on work to fully understand has been quite a challenge. I am extremely happy that our course instructor has done an amazing job at making this course online while presenting the content in a matter that we can understand and absorb.

With this class I have come to understand the importance of static and dynamic pressure when looking at an irrigation system an how they affect the pressure throughout the system. Understanding such a “small” part of your irrigation system can mean the difference between having a sustainable irrigation system and a system that over waters or under waters areas, resulting in more money spent to correct the issues.

I am excited to use this knowledge in the future to help ensure my course irrigation system performs to its highest potential. Whether fixing irrigation to allow better performance or building a new system into a course project, it is extremely important to know what the different areas of your course require for adequate saturation and pressure. The more staff that have this understanding and can help contribute to the problem solving and planning can make the process easier and unsure less mistakes are made.
