The last few months have been quite interesting to say the least. Between being back at work, having weekly school assignments, and the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the globe. 2020 has been an absolute handful! However, through all the stressful moments it has been a major learning experience for everyone.
One of the most noticeable things for me has been the changes around our maintenance team. Before all of this we had a daily morning meeting with everyone, to discuss that days particular setup. This season on the other-hand, we have been forced to focus on not only our tasks but we have also had to re-assess our entire health and safety protocol to coincide with the governments guidelines. One of the more noticeable changes we have made are staggered start times for most of the crew. This has allowed us to have smaller more focused meetings with our staff, helping them to receive more thorough instructions along with eliminating the amount of time spent getting ready in the yard.
This is just one small change that was made due to the global crisis but has taught us to be more efficient and our team will continue to assess new methods constantly.
When things start to change around us we need to adapt. Make the most of the current situation and learn from it. These adaptations happen more often than we think and allow us in the industry to develop new methods to continue improving and become more efficient day to day. As long as we continue to learn from these things, we have the ability to not only improve the turf industry but the game of golf as well.
