TRF 3000 Journal

Learning the inner working involved with producing a functional budget as well as the ability to cut that budget has been extremely informative. Although my spreadsheet knowledge is still improving, my group and I managed to produce a working calculator to breakdown our budget which gave us the ability to understand how costs can be cut and tasks can be tweaked to improve efficiency. This has been something I was looking forward to since I started my first year at Olds College. Understanding how important this role is to operate any business but more specifically in our case, a turf care department at a golf course. Since we started this class I have been brainstorming ideas of how I can use what we have learned to help my course and superintendent save money and work as efficiently as possible while still producing a high quality experience for members and guests. Once I have looked further into our courses specific numbers I can start to ask questions and understand our reasoning behind our planning of practices and why we do things a certain way (more specifically foliar vs granular fertility).

I have learned so much in this class and although it was a bit of a struggle I appreciate the layout and our instructors patience and willingness to help all students learn the material needed for their success.
