The first week of TRF 3100 has been a little different than most classes. Taking the assignments and looking at them from more of a leadership role has been an extremely beneficial experience that will help all of us be more prepared in the future to produce a strong, safe work environment for our employees.
Although I feel I already have a great understanding of leadership, there is always more to learn to stay current as things are always changing. Something we all need to be aware of is that as we stay in our industry and get older, we are usually hiring from a specific age range and some of our methods may become outdated. After each of the various presentations there was a lot of different discussion on leadership types which has helped me to reflect on my own management style. Making me more aware of how I may be perceived in the work place based on my leadership and how it can compared to how other styles may help me with various staff. This is extremely important to understand, especially when we hire so many new staff each year which means the ability to adapt is a must.
These discussions have made me excited for the up coming season when I can really focus on how I approach different staff and help build a strong team to help enhance the golf clubs conditions as well as our image toward employees and future hires.
